FIREFIGHTER FOR A DAY

FIREFIGHTER FOR A DAY

Meet Lincoln, an incredible superhero! A few months ago, he told his parents he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up - and for one day, we got to help make his dream a reality in the midst of his cancer treatment.

Lincoln is three years old and is battling neuroblastoma. To honor Lincoln and give him an unforgettable positive experience during an otherwise difficult time, our Campus Crew at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh brought him on a special adventure to become an honorary firefighter at the Marshfield Fire Department!

The Marshfield Firefighters welcomed Lincoln with open arms and gifted him his very own helmet and junior firefighter suit with his name on it. They gave him a personal tour of the ambulances, trucks and building and took him for a ride in a big fire truck. Lincoln said his favorite part of the tour was putting out “fires” by knocking down wooden flames with the hose!

Though Lincoln’s journey through treatment is not yet over, his day as a firefighter gave him joy, hope and an escape from worry for his whole family for a couple of hours. After finishing up his latest round of treatments, he is now going through immunotherapy for a couple of weeks.

We are so honored to give children like Lincoln such precious memories and experiences in the midst of the difficulties of pediatric cancer treatment.

Thank you to Jeff Mankini Photography, the Marshfield Fire Department and our Crew at UW-Oshkosh for putting together this adventure. Most of all, thank you for all your support, which makes these experiences possible for Lincoln and thousands of other children battling cancer!
