THE GIFT OF COMFORT

 

PAB’S PACKS is a nonprofit organization that shares our vision for improving the lives of children who are staying in the hospital. Started by Pia and Abbie, two friends who both had hospital experiences as teenagers, PAB’S PACKS is on a mission to provide packs filled with comfort and support items to children and teens in the hospital.

THE IMPORTANCE OF AMERICAN MANUFACTURING

Many consumers are familiar with our mission to improve the lives of children battling cancer, but not everyone knows all our products are made here in the United States.
This week, as we continue to reflect on and celebrate Independence Day, we want to share some of the reasons behind our commitment to USA manufacturing.

AVA'S SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

Superhero Adventures are designed to give children battling cancer a fun, lighthearted, unforgettable experience in the midst of treatment. This adventure with our superhero, Ava, and her family was no exception!

Ava is four years old and is battling B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

 

BIRTHDAY PARTIES WITH THE CONFETTI FOUNDATION

Many children who are undergoing treatment have to stay in the hospital on their birthday. It can be difficult for families to throw a birthday party for their child during a hospital stay, but our partner, The Confetti Foundation, is here to help.

 

 

WHAT IS A SWAB DRIVE?

Many individuals battling blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia or other life-threatening diseases need a bone marrow transplant in order to save their life. In order to receive a bone marrow transplant, patients need to find a genetic match, and many times, patients find themselves waiting or never finding a life-saving match.

PARTNER HIGHLIGHT: MIKEY'S WAY

When a child is in the hospital, fun gifts and positive experiences can provide encouragement as well as an escape from the difficulties of treatment. We are proud to partner with organizations that provide these children with positive experiences, like Mikey’s Way Foundation!

 

FIREFIGHTER FOR A DAY

 

Meet Lincoln, an incredible superhero! A few months ago, he told his parents he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up - and for one day, we got to help make his dream a reality in the midst of his cancer treatment.

Almost five and a half years ago, when we were first beginning Love Your Melon, we met an incredible individual named Zach Sobiech. Zach was full of life, love, joy and dreams.

AIDEN'S SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

When children are undergoing pediatric cancer treatment, their days of often defined by hospital visits, tests, treatments and chemotherapy. At Love Your Melon, we want to give these superheroes a special day defined instead by laughter, hope and fun memories with their families.

We are committed to funding nonprofit partners who are making a real difference to support the fight against cancer, like our partner, Be The Match! Be The Match is an organization committed to growing the bone marrow registry to help save the lives of individuals battling cancer.

GAME NIGHT SEASON RECAP

We had an incredible season of Love Your Melon Game Nights, and we couldn’t have done it without you! Because of your support, we were able to partner with 31 teams during the 2017-2018 sports season. We also brought over 250 families to these Game Nights to create a memorable experience for them during treatment!

CHEF LUCAS FOOD

Lucas was only 12 years old when he was diagnosed with cancer. After experiencing cancer treatment, Lucas knew he wanted to do something to help other families going through the same thing. His idea? Show love through food!

DELILAH'S SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

Meet Delilah! She has a huge heart, a big smile and a passion for makeup and beauty. Her strength is so admirable throughout her battle with cancer, and we wanted to do something special to put a smile on her face and remind her how incredible she is.

Ashleigh was just 19 years old when she was diagnosed with stage four osteosarcoma –a type of bone cancer. Battling an extremely aggressive cancer, Ashleigh and her family would spend days at the hospital hoping for the best possible outcome.

Since 2016, Love Your Melon has helped grant more than 25 wishes through Make-A-Wish in Colorado, Illinois, Greater Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Minnesota.

 

BIG GAME RECAP

 

We had an amazing week celebrating the big game in our home city with so many of our friends and superheroes! Here’s a look at some highlights of the incredible superhero events from the past week.

CARLY'S SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

Meet Carly, one of our friends and superheroes! She is 19 years old and is battling Ewing’s Sarcoma. Carly was a freshman at the University of Minnesota when she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma.

DAKOTA'S SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

Dakota is battling B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). At only three years old, she has endured a lot of difficulty for a child.

 

ARIA'S SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

Meet Aria, a five-year-old superhero who is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). She is an incredible girl with an amazing smile and cheerful spirit!

A few weeks ago, we got to cheer on the Minnesota Wild (our home team!) alongside some of the most incredible superheroes we know.

One of the most difficult realities of childhood cancer is that there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why some children are diagnosed with it.

Jayden was diagnosed with a rare eye cancer called Retinoblastoma when he was just one year old. He immediately began high-dose chemotherapy in attempt to stop the cancer from spreading to his brain.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the entire family is affected. Every family in this difficult situation needs support regardless of their socioeconomic status.

 

JAMES' SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

James is four years old and is battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. We recently brought James and his family on an adventure to the local park.

 

EMMA GRACE'S SUPERHERO

Meet Emma! This amazing girl is six years old and has already endured so much after being diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma at age three.

Five-year-old Mattix will battle Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis for the rest of his life. This is a rare disease involving proliferation of Langerhans cells and capable of migrating from skin to lymph nodes and brain.

Travis is a cheerful, fun superhero who is battling cancer with so much strength. We recently had a full day of fun with Travis bringing him to the Orlando Magic basketball game!

SHAYDEN'S SUPERHERO ADVENTURE

Meet Shayden, a four-year-old warrior! He was diagnosed with leukemia at just 22 months old, and has been a superhero through it all.

 

ISABELLA'S PINK LIMO

ADVENTURE

When Isabella met a Love Your Melon Campus Crew at the local mall, she had no idea what big surprises were in store for her adventure!

Beckham is a two-year-old superhero battling cancer. He especially loves "copters," and loves to watch the University of Michigan Health System's Survival flight helicopter take off from the window of his hospital room during his treatment.

Meet Clay! This incredible fighter is only five years old and has battled leukemia and endured difficult treatment like a superhero. We are so happy to say that Clay is now cancer free and is in remission!
