MILLIONS OF HEARTS, ONE MISSION: LOVE YOUR MELON’S EVOLUTION

From the very beginning, Love Your Melon’s commitment to fighting pediatric cancer has been etched into our DNA. It’s a cause that’s often overlooked and historically underfunded, which is one of the many reasons that we’re dedicated to making a difference.

When we started our journey, our mission was simple: for every beanie sold, we’d give one to a child battling cancer – not only to keep their head warm and cozy while undergoing treatment, but to put a smile on their face and give them the opportunity to choose a design they love at a time when they don’t have a say in much. The incredible support from our tight-knit community led to soaring sales, and we soon met our beanie donation goal. We were eager to harness this support, evolve our model, and make an even bigger impact in the lives of children and families battling pediatric cancer.

So, we adapted. In 2015, we transitioned to a model where we donated 50% of net profit from every purchase to nonprofit organizations that are paving the way in groundbreaking research, therapeutic experiences, and family support, while continuing to give a beanie to every child battling cancer. Since then, we’ve given over $9.8M and 270K beanies. We’ve supported incredible organizations and initiatives like the Ryan Seacrest Foundation and the construction of three Seacrest Studios in childrens’ hospitals across the country, and Beat Childhood Cancer’s groundbreaking FDA approval of DFMO.

As we head into 2024, we want to do more, and continue to push ourselves to be the best we can, which means we need to evolve yet again. Read on below for some exciting changes we’re making to the brand this year in order to increase transparency to our community, bolster our mission, and make an even bigger impact in the fight against pediatric cancer.

A More Transparent Financial Giving Model

One of the most significant changes we’re making is all about increasing transparency to our community. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with the support of you, our customers, and our amazing partners. However, ever changing variables like discounts, rising material costs for quality production, and fair pay for our team all affect our net profit each year. We needed to find a way to grow our business and give back more despite these variables.

That’s why we’re shifting to a $1 per product model. This way, you’ll know exactly how much of your purchase is going directly into the hands of the nonprofits we support. Even better, that dollar amount won’t be affected by our prices or costs like it has in the past. It’s $1 per product, no matter the product, no matter the price point, and no matter where you buy it - whether it’s here at loveyourmelon.com, on Amazon, or from your favorite retailer.

A Product Range You Can Wear Year-Round

Another way to increase our impact is to sell more products so that we’re able to give back more to the fight against pediatric cancer in the long run. Love Your Melon is known for our signature knit beanies, but in most climates, those can only be worn for a few months out of the year. We’re changing that. Last year, we introduced the Hero Cap–the hat for every season and style–and we’ll be expanding that range further this year, alongside new warm weather styles arriving this spring and summer. We’re also expanding our baby and child offerings. This way, you and your whole family can love your melon and support our mission year-round.

Bigger In-Store Footprint

Soon, you’ll start seeing Love Your Melon in some of your favorite stores! $1 per product will still go towards fighting pediatric cancer, wherever you choose to buy, increasing our ability to give back all the while.
