Bruins Game Night

Bruins Game Night

On December 17, 2019, two Boston families had the chance to attend a Bruins Hockey Game through Love Your Melon’s Game Night Program! Love Your Melon Game Nights provide sports fans across the country with custom Love Your Melon hats and helps raise awareness for pediatric cancer while giving families battling pediatric cancer the opportunity to experience a fun evening cheering on their favorite team. To date, we have partnered with over 150 NHL, NBA, MLS, and MLB teams around the country and have been able to provide hundreds of families with unforgettable experiences.

13-year-old Carly loves hockey, soccer, flag football and hanging with her friends. On December 5th, 2018, Carly was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. She began treatment right away and spent 42 days as an inpatient at Boston Children's Hospital. For the past year, Carly has gone to Dana Farber every Thursday to receive chemotherapy treatments. She has endured 14 lumbar punctures and received countless blood and platelet transfusions. Her treatment plan calls for another year of weekly chemo and continued injections for blood clots. Carly is strong and cannot wait to get back on the field and on the ice and play with her friends. Carly and her friend Maddie were able to sit on the bench with the Bruins team during warmups and even meet some players!

Maddie is a six year old patient at Dana Farber. She has been a patient at Dana Farber since she was three years old and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Maddie spent her first months of treatment at Boston Children's Hospital where she achieved remission and continued to follow the protocol with outpatient treatment at Dana Farber for the next two years. Maddie spent two months off of treatment when it was discovered that she had relapsed. During Maddie's treatment for relapsed ALL, a brain tumor was found during a routine MRI. For the past year, Maddie has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment for both ALL and a brain tumor. Aside from her treatment, Maddie loves school and is currently in a first grade Spanish immersion program and has resumed most of her favorite activities: swimming and dance! Maddie, her parents and her little brother had the best time at the game cheering on the Bruins!

We are so happy to be able to provide families undergoing treatment memorable experiences during a difficult time. Your support enables us to continue our Game Night Program and continue to make the biggest impact possible in the lives of children battling cancer. Thank you!
