What is Love Your Melon?

Love Your Melon (LYM) is a beanie brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer, as well as supporting nonprofit organizations leading the fight against pediatric cancer.

LYM believes even the smallest gesture can spark hope and create a smile. What started as a simple idea - giving a hat to every child battling cancer - has grown into a mission of spreading warmth, love, and community.

How Much Does LYM Give Back?

For every hat purchased, LYM gives one hat to a child battling cancer. Additionally, 15% of total revenue from add-ons, accessories and warehouse sales is donated to LYM partners in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Why is Love Your Melon rebranding some parts as LYM?

With the relaunch of the brand, Love Your Melon will rebrand to LYM. To many in our community, Love Your Melon has always been referred to as LYM. It is time to take Love Your Melon into its new chapter and represent everyone in this community. LYM is a reference to Love Your Melon, now more inclusive and approachable to everyone while being tied directly to the core mission of helping kids battling cancer. It also fits better on our new beanie tags, feels adventurous and is something new, which this relaunch is. A rebirth of the incredible community we built.

What happened to LYM?

LYM was founded in 2012 in an entrepreneurship class at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota by two college students who wanted to start a business with a meaningful and positive impact.

In 2022, the company was sold to a private equity group. Then, in 2025, one of the original founders, Zachary Quinn and his family bought back LYM, bringing it home to Minnesota as a small family business.

Who owns LYM?

Zachary, one of the original founders, his wife Brooke and sons Jack and George own and operate LYM. Through lots of support from their extended family, friends, LYM partners and employees and this community, all this is possible again.

When is LYM relaunching?

LYM will relaunch on September 22nd at 10 AM Central Time. Shop all collections at LYM.com

How do I buy products on the relaunch of the site?

Starting on September 16th, product pages will be live for the new LYM Essentials and Classics Collections at LYM.com. You can sign up for back in stock notifications on each product listed as coming soon. These products will drop on September 18th at 10 AM Central Time. Get on the website early and select the products you want to purchase and checkout quickly!

Note: We expect products to sell out, all products are first come, first serve. We can’t guarantee that products will be made again once they are sold out. In particular, beanies in the Classics Collection are leftover from what was made previously and we may not be able to make them again. All licensed products are no longer available as the licenses ended before we bought the company back. If you have a LYM product, hold onto it because it may not be made again! We will do our best to restock new products in the Essentials Collection and top selling products in the Classics Collection. We’re building back LYM stronger than ever and need your help to make this community the best it can be and have the greatest collective impact we can.

What is the Buy One, Give One Program?

The Buy One, Give One Program is what Love Your Melon started with in 2012. We set a mission to give a hat to every child battling cancer in the country. We accomplished that and donated almost $10 million to fight pediatric cancer.

Our Buy One, Give One program is back. For every beanie you purchase, we will donate another to a child battling cancer. LYM is more than just hats – this brand is a message of hope and comfort, a reminder to kids that they’re not alone.

Why does LYM give away beanies?

Beanies create a sense of community for kids and families battling cancer. They provide an opportunity for everyone to look the same and feel loved. For kids battling cancer, LYM beanies show them that our community is there to support them, care for them and show them love.

Does LYM give beanies only to children battling cancer?

Since our first hospital visit, we recognized the need to give beanies to others in addition to children battling cancer. When we visit hospitals and care facilities, we see kids battling cancer but also kids battling other life threatening illnesses and injuries. And these kids aren’t there alone, they’re often with their siblings, parents and guardians, who are all going through an incredibly difficult time. We don’t leave anyone out at our giving events.

That is why the need is so great. There are roughly 40,000 (CureSearch) children battling cancer in the US at a given time and 15,000 (NCI) new diagnoses every year. The number of children battling life threatening illnesses and injuries in the US is over 500,000 (NCI). And there are siblings of these kids, parents and caregivers that are all going through an unimaginable challenge.

How many beanies will LYM give away?

We will give away a beanie for every one sold as long as there is a need for them. Our goal is to give away 100,000 beanies this year and with your support we will hopefully continue to give hundreds of thousands more.

What charitable partners does LYM support?

We will be giving away beanies this year to thousands of non-profits, care facilities and hospitals with the help of child life specialists, nurses and caregivers as well as delivering them directly to children and families. LYM has supported numerous nonprofits leading the fight against pediatric cancer over the last two decades, contributing over $10 million to fight pediatric cancer and will continue to grow its impact. How much has LYM given to date?

LYM has donated more than 270,000 hats to children battling cancer and more than $10 million to its partners who support its fight against pediatric cancer. We’ll keep updating these numbers as we go!

Where will the 15% of revenue be donated for add ons, accessories and future non-beanie products?

15% of total revenue from add ons (Poms), accessories (wristbands, pin packs and washbags) and future non-beanie products will be given to Pinky Swear Foundation and M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital this year.

LYM is a longtime supporter of Pinky Swear Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps kids battling cancer and their families with financial support, as well as the M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital that houses the LYM Family Resource Center and Love Your Melon Lounge where kids and their families can visit to read books, play games and have fun!

We will be expanding the nonprofits we give funds to next year. Stay tuned for ways to partner.

Why does LYM give 15% of revenue from add ons, accessories and future products?

LYM is dedicated to supporting nonprofit partners in addition to donating beanies through the one for one program. The Buy One, Give One Program works well for beanies because kids and families need them but doesn’t always make sense for other products. Whenever we launch a new product, we will see if there is a need and if it makes sense to give one for one or donate 15% of total revenue instead.

What has LYM been doing all summer?

We have been working hard to rebuild the company and brand to bring back the products you love! We also haven’t stopped giving away beanies. We’ve given away over 1,200 beanies over the summer before we even relaunched the brand.

Can I give away a beanie myself?

That’s what this is all about! We know that anyone can make an impact. Request a Beanie by emailing requests@lym.com and share who you are going to give it to and you can donate a beanie yourself!

I know a child battling cancer. Can we send them a hat?

Yes, that is what LYM is here for! Individual hat donations will be sent out through our Request a Beanie program, where anyone can submit a story about a child battling cancer or another life-threatening illness or injury and have a hat sent to them or donated on their behalf. These requests can be made on our website here - Request a Beanie or by emailing requests@lym.com. This will also be linked at checkout. If someone buying a beanie knows a child who needs one, they can request to donate it or have it sent there. Include in your request the child’s name, hat style, size and color. Also include the shipping address (your’s if you’re going to give it to them or the family’s if it is to be sent directly) and any other important information like when delivery is needed by. We will do our best to handle all requests quickly but we will be sending out a lot of hats this year and we are a small team! Find out more about our “Request a Hat” by emailing requests@lym.com

Large hat care boxes will be donated through hospitals, care facilities and nonprofit partners via child life specialists and caregivers. Donations can be requested by emailing donations@lym.com.

Please note: We process all requests as soon as possible but we are a small team and they may take 15-30 to go out.

Will the ambassador program return?

We’re working on it! This time the ambassador program will be open to everyone of all ages, because everyone can make an impact. Sign up to be notified when the ambassador program relaunches here - LYM Ambassador Program.

Who are your LYM models?

The models we work with for our product and lifestyle images are actually storytellers that are a part of this community! Everyone is either connected to LYM through their impact or how they have been impacted. Storytellers include children battling cancer, nurses, caregivers, family members, friends and people who would do anything to help others.

How does my organization apply to be a LYM partner?

We are currently only accepting partnership requests for hat donations. If you are a nonprofit, hospital or care facility interested in becoming a partner, please email your request for a hat donation to donations@lym.com. Include hat quantity, style, size and color in your email. Also include your organization’s shipping address and delivery date needed by.

Does LYM sponsor events?

LYM is involved with many pediatric cancer-related events throughout the year. Please email care@lym.com and if your event is a good fit, one of our team members will reach out to you soon.

How can I get featured on LYM’s Social Media Pages

Tag us on social @loveyourmelon or @loveyourmelon official in your stories and posts. Or send us a collab request! If it fits our feed, we’ll accept it. Posts should showcase your impact, how you have been impacted by LYM or just show off your beanie/collection of LYM products! We don’t work with paid influencers or run social media ads, we only repost organic posts and share your impact stories.

Why doesn’t LYM work with paid influencers?

We believe we can all be influencers and together make the largest collective impact on kids that need us the most. We don’t send out free beanies (besides the ones we donate to our community of kids, families and caregivers) or pay influencers because that wouldn’t be fair to everyone else in the LYM community. This might make it harder to grow but we’re confident you’ll believe in our mission, share your LYM impact story and help us make the largest impact possible.

Why doesn’t LYM run social media ads?

We won’t be running social media ads because we believe in organic impact and we don’t want to spam people with things they don’t want to see. We may run boosted posts on our social media platforms so that the LYM community and our followers can see what we are posting but we won’t run ads. We also want to keep our beanies and products priced affordably without the added cost of advertising. So we need you to share your story of how you have been impacted by LYM or your impact on others through LYM. Together, we can make a difference.

Does LYM run other ads, billboards and do marketing?

Existing LYM beanies in the Classics and Essentials Collections have been made all over. A large quantity of them were made in Mendota Heights, MN, Portland, OR or China. See product pages for details on where each beanie comes from. For new products LYM is starting to bring back U.S. manufacturing through finishing products in Minneapolis, Minnesota and ordering new colors of beanies produced in Portland, Oregon.

What do LYM beanies cost?

All beanies will be going back to the original pricing from LYM in the early years. We want to provide you with high quality beanies at an affordable price. Beanies and Cuffed Beanies are $30 and Pom Beanies are $35. This includes the cost of the beanie that is donated through the Buy One, Give One Program as well.

Poms and add ons range from $2-$12.

What is Build Your Own Beanie?

We’re just starting to build this together and you can help create the future! Build Your Own Beanie is all about how you customize your own beanie! Each beanie is unique to you and you should be able to customize it however you like. Starting with an Essentials beanie with a unique bright blue fold over label or a Classics beanie with a leather patch, cuffed or beanie style. Then you can add your Pom, other patches or charms. LYM will be launching a Build Your Own Beanie Store this fall and then growing the customization options online for you to make your own unique and custom beanie!

Can I make a monetary donation to LYM?

No, LYM is a privately held family business and does not accept donations.

Product Information

Where is the product made?

LYM products have been made through a variety of manufacturers in the U.S. and China. Since reacquiring the company, we've brought finishing back to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and also sourced new beanies from Portland, Oregon. For details and specific product origins and materials, please see individual product pages.

What are the product specifications

Our beanies are made from either 99% cotton / 1% LYCRA or 100% cotton unless otherwise specified, depending on the style, color and where it was finished. They are designed to be One Size Fits Most and come in both cuffed, beanie and reversible (Essentials) styles. Production of Classics and Essentials products has taken place in either China or Portland, Oregon with finishing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. See product pages for more details.

What materials are used in the product?

LYM products are thoughtfully made with high-quality materials, including 100% cotton or a 99% cotton / 1% lycra blend unless otherwise specified. LYM patches are made with leather or rubber materials. LYM Essentials tags are made with high quality woven polyester yarn. See product pages for more details.

Are LYM products sustainable or eco-friendly?

Our beanies are made primarily with cotton, a biodegradable fiber that breaks down much faster than synthetic materials. We also use recycled plastic in our shipping materials and remain committed to producing products and packaging that are better for the environment.

What are the product’s key features?

Love Your Melon beanies are warm, comfortable, and made to last. They’re machine washable, One Size Fits Most, and built for everyday wear. For every beanie purchased, one is given to a child battling cancer or other life threatening disease or injury so you can feel good while looking good!

How do I choose the right size?

Our beanies are One Size Fits Most and can stretch to fit your head. Our beanies are machine washable - tumble dry on high to return the beanie back to its original size! Everyone’s head sizes are different - inside every product page, dimensions are listed as the average size for each style and color beanie. See which one you think will work best for you.

Note: Each color dye interacts with the cotton yarn and wash/dry process differently, which causes the beanies to vary slightly in size. Beanies made with 1% LYCRA in them appear smaller but are stretchier. All beanies of the same color and product make up start as the same size before finishing so a cuffed beanie will be more snug than a standard beanie which is designed to be looser. Essentials Collection beanies are designed to be reversible so you can wear them either cuffed or beanie style and choose the cuffed height to your preference. Because of this, the Essentials beanies are the most versatile when it comes to size. Specific details are listed in all product pages.

The product I want is sold out!

We are expecting high order volume around the relaunch of LYM and products may be sold out. We are unable to guarantee if/when a specific item will be restocked.

What if my beanie is too small?

Try to stretch it out by wearing it. When you machine wash it and tumble dry on high, your beanie will go back to its original size. Use our beanie wash bags to protect your beanie in the wash process. Make sure to remove any poms before washing. If you have issues, email care@lym.com.

What if my beanie is too large?

Our standard beanies and Essentials Collection beanies (when uncuffed) are designed to be slouchy in fit. You can adjust the size by tucking the back of a beanie into itself, creating folds. For Essentials beanies, you can roll up the cuff once or more times to your desired preference.

All of our beanies are machine washable and will shrink back to their original size after tumble drying on high. Use our beanie wash bags to protect your beanie in the wash process. Remove any poms before washing. If you have issues, email care@lym.com.

Can I wash my LYM products?

Yes, that’s what they are designed for! All of our beanies are machine washable and will shrink back to their original size after tumble drying on high. Use our beanie wash bags to protect your beanie in the wash process. Remove any poms before washing.

My beanie has a manufacturing defect, loose threads on the patch or knit, what do I do?

Our beanies are made with care but things happen! Make sure to use one of our beanie wash bags to protect your beanie in the washer and dryer.

Treat your beanie like your favorite T-shirt, hoodie or pair of jeans. Sometimes there are loose threads on the patch or label that can be cut short without unraveling the rest of the thread. Try that first! If there are threads sticking out of the beanie knit try tugging at the knit around them to put them back into place. If there are threads sticking out that have broken, they can be tied together. You can tie them together and cut the ends short to prevent the knit from unraveling.

There is a stain on my beanie, what do I do?

It happens! Try following our general wash instructions or refer to the product page for specifics.

I lost my Pom or my dog ate it!

We’ve heard all the stories! We now have individual Poms for sale and each one comes with a Pom Snap Attachment Kit so you can order a new Pom to replace yours (however it happened) or add a new Pom to a beanie anywhere you choose.

My Pom Snap attachment broke or didn’t go on.

Email us a photo at care@lym.com and we will send you a new Pom Snap Attachment Kit. If you don’t have one and want to order one, they’re available for $2 here - Pom Snap Attachment Kit. Use our beanie wash bags to protect your beanie, Pom snap attachments and other add ons like tags and patches. Just remember to remove your Pom before washing!

How do I remove my Pom snap attachment?

Once installed they are permanent. You have to break them off with a screwdriver or butter knife to remove them. Place whatever tool you have in between the top of the snap attachment and the beanie then twist. After it is removed, you’ll have to order a new one if you want to attach another Pom.

What do the beanie wash bags do?

Our beanie wash bags protect your beanie in the washer and dryer! They prevent snags and tears in the knit and also protect your Pom snap attachments and other add ons like tags and patches. Just remember to remove your Pom before washing!

How will I know when a product becomes available again?

Many products that we produced in the past through limited collections or licenses will not return. Our license partnerships ended before we bought LYM back so for the time being licensed products will not be made again. We are a small family business and we are working on bringing back all of the capabilities LYM had but some manufacturers have gone out of business and we need to rebuild our supply chains. Hold onto your beanies as they are collectors items!

We are unable to guarantee if/when a specific item will be restocked. Classics Collection products are limited edition and may not be made in that specific color or style again. However, we are constantly adding new colors and styles to our collection. New colors and styles, in particular those in the Essentials Collection, we will do our best to restock.

Will Licensed Products be made again?

Our license partnerships ended before we bought LYM back so for the time being licensed products will not be made again. If you have a licensed or limited edition LYM product, hold onto it as it’s now a collector’s item!

Ordering and Shipping

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) and offer express payment options through Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

What are the shipping options?

We offer standard shipping through our partner DHL, which uses USPS for final delivery. You will be sent a tracking number when your order ships.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is based on location. Put items into your cart and enter your address at checkout to get a shipping quote.

I emailed the Care@lym.com account and DM’d on Social but haven’t heard back. What do I do?

We will get back to everyone, it just may take some time for us to get through all of the requests and order support. Please allow 3-5 business days for us to get back to you. We promise we will make it right and respond to all of your questions.

Does LYM ship internationally?

No, at the moment we do not offer international shipping.

Do you offer expedited shipping?

Not at this time. We offer standard shipping through our partner DHL, which uses USPS for final delivery. You will be sent a tracking number when your order ships.

I need to cancel my order.

Please do everything to get your order right. If your order hasn’t been shipped yet, it can be cancelled. Products in your order may not be back in stock when you reorder once cancelled. We are expecting high order volume around the relaunch and products may be sold out. Email care@lym.com right away and we will take care of cancelled orders as high priority requests.

How long does shipping take?

If we are shipping to an address within the United States, orders are usually delivered within 7-10 business days from the time the order was placed. You will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number as soon as the order ships.

Note: During the relaunch, new product launches and the holidays, the shipping time may be extended.

Do you provide shipping/tracking information?

We will send you a confirmation email with a tracking number once your order ships. That way you can follow your package all the way to your doorstep! If we are shipping to an address within the United States, orders are usually delivered within 7-10 business days from the time the order was placed. Please note: During the holidays and relaunch, the shipping time may be extended.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, please let us know by emailing care@lym.com.

Can I update/change my shipping address?

We will do our best to change your address before your order has shipped. Please note: If your order has already shipped, we are unable to change the address. 

Please do your best to make sure all shipping details are correct before placing your order but if there is a mistake send us any changes to your address as soon as possible by emailing care@lym.com and we will do our best to take care of it.

What if my order is delayed?

Due to the high volume of orders we receive during those times, it may take up to 5-7 business days for all orders to ship. Once your order has shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email.

What if my order is lost in the mail?

We will take care of lost packages. If you believe your order has been lost in the mail, please reach out to us by emailing care@lym.com

Missing items or order, what do I do?

What if the order I received has an incorrect item?

If you received an incorrect item and don’t want it, email care@lym.com and we will send you the correct product. If the product you ordered is out of stock, we will replace it with another product or refund you for the cost you paid.

What if the product I ordered oversold?

This may happen, we are a small family business working to bring LYM back but the process of bringing back a company this large and this quick isn’t going to be perfect. If we oversell an item and we don’t have one to send you, we will work on making you a new one if we can. If we can’t make a new product to match what you ordered, we will refund you for the cost of the out of stock item and send you a similar product on us. Email us at care@lym.com if this happens.

Returns and Refunds

Returns and exchanges

We accept returns and exchanges for in stock items up to 14 days after your order has been delivered. Customer is responsible for the shipping cost back to our warehouse. For exchanged products, we will cover the shipping cost for the new products being shipped to you. Email care@lym.com to get started with your order number and the shipping zip code associated with your original order.

How do I initiate a return?

Email care@lym.com with your order number and shipping zip code from your original order.

What if I receive defective products?

What if I am missing an item entirely from my order?

We will send it as soon as possible, email care@lym.com. If the product is out of stock, we will refund you or exchange the item.

Can I change an item in my order?

Once your order has been placed, we cannot add or edit item(s). If you change your mind about an item, you have to cancel your entire order and place a new one with your desired items.

Note: All cancellations are final. We cannot guarantee the products you want will be available when you reorder. We will do our best to cancel orders before they have shipped. Email us at care@lym.com as soon as possible. Once an order has shipped it can’t be cancelled.

Can I exchange an item?

Exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery. The cost to ship items back to our warehouse for exchange is on you and we will cover the cost to ship the new items for your exchange back. Email care@lym.com to get started with an exchange. Send us your order number and the shipping zip code from your original order in your email.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your order can be cancelled if it has not been processed and shipped. All cancellations are final and we cannot guarantee your desired items will be available when you place another order.

Please note: If your order has already shipped, it cannot be cancelled but it can be returned. Returns must be started within 14 days of delivery by emailing your order number and original shipping zip code to care@lym.com. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs to our warehouse.

To create an account, visit lym.com/account/register and follow the on-screen instructions. You’ll receive an email confirmation once your account has been created.

How do I reset my password?

Go to lym.com/account/login#recover and follow the instructions to reset your password. Please check your spam or promotions folder if you do not see the email within a few minutes.

How do I update my account information?

Please login at lym.com/account to access your dashboard. Once signed in, you can add or edit addresses and change your name, email, or password. Note: Changes made here will not update information for orders already placed. For order-related changes, please email care@lym.com.

Can I include a gift message?

Not at this time but you can include a message to be sent to a child receiving a beanie through our Buy One, Give One Program! At checkout you can input a message with your order that we will have written down to be given with our beanie donations to kids and families.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. Click HERE to purchase a gift card.

Note: Gift cards do not expire and remain valid for future purchases.

While we do our best to honor outstanding gift cards, very old or unusual cases (such as large balances from past ownership) will be reviewed on an individual basis.
