Timberwolves RMHC Visit

Timberwolves RMHC Visit

Children and families staying at the Ronald McDonald House near the University of Minnesota’s East Bank Campus received a big surprise when Timberwolves star Josh Okogie showed up to hang out with kids, play basketball, and hand out custom Love Your Melon beanies!

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is a long-time partner of Love Your Melon, is dedicated to keeping families with sick children together and near the care and resources they need. The organization’s global network of local chapters helps millions of families dealing with a child’s health crisis find comfort and support when they need it most. Services provided include lodging, meals, transportation and family-focused programming, all of which help families cope during a very challenging time.

Love Your Melon has supported RMHC programs since 2017 and to date, has provided $163,209 in direct support of RMHC programs across the country, including Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM), allowing families with children battling cancer to stay together, in close proximity to their child and his or her care team.

Across the country, our campus crews often visit RMHC locations to make meals for families, provide Love Your Melon beanies and create smiles! In 2020, our funding will support year-round service days at RMHC programs, which means Love Your Melon Campus Crews will be personally delivering beanies and creating even more smiles at RMHC events all over the United States.

The children and their families were excited to meet Josh Okogie ahead of Love Your Melon’s Game Night with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where they attended the game and enjoyed suite and court-side seating. The kids’ time with Josh at the Ronald McDonald House was filled with smiles, energetic games of basketball, and memories to bring with them through their fight.

Thank you for joining the fight against cancer and enabling us to help create moments like these with the incredible nonprofit organizations who are paving the way and making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer.
